Description

No need to bury you in the details, but a very nice man from Tatem Games recently put up the map and model editors originally used by Action Forms to make the games Carnivores 2 and Carnivores Ice Age. I plan on downloading them and seeing what I can do.

So here are a few concepts I did for new dinosaurs I might try making. Since this is Carnivores I drew mine to match the style of the original (though whether or not I'd actually do this in a mod idk, updating the old dinosaurs would be pretty fun too).
If you haven't heard of the Carnivores games then there's really no need to read on but YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF.

Carnotaurus. There are a lot of good candidates for new meat-eaters, but Carnotaurus is a personal favorite of mine and I see it requested everywhere, so it seems like a good choice. I'd make it bigger than the Allo / Velo / Spino, but smaller than the Ceratosaurus. Substantial health reserve, standard walk/run/swim animations, but no jumping. I imagine it having an "aha" animation like the T. rex, lowering its head and roaring before it charges at you. It would eat you like the other small carnivores, though I'd probably animate it in a different way to keep things fresh.

Styracosaurus. Again, there are a lot of good dinosaurs for the role of new ceratopsid, but Styracosaurus was one of the first that came to my mind. I'm kinda surprised it wasn't in the game to begin with, to be honest. It'd probably be easy to make if I used the Triceratops or Chasmosaurus as a base. The animations would probably be very similar, though I'd tweak the speed and aggressiveness. Maybe give it it's own kill animation too, with the hunter impaled on its horn.

Apatosaurus. Inspired by the Seismosaurus myth from Carnivores 1. The Apatosaur spawns on land, as opposed to the water-side Brachio, and wanders around more like a regular herbivore. It would have animations for standing in place, looking around, and grazing (probably from the ground, I don't know if there's a way to have herbivores target trees specifically) and would be unaggressive and safe to walk under. It does not spook at the sound of predator calls or gunshots. However if you shoot it, accidentally or on purpose, it will becomes angry and chase after you. It can kill by trampling, like the Triceratops, and will also swing its neck from side-to-side to increase its kill range (think of this as the hebivore equivalent to the carnivores' jump move). Needless to say it's a hard dino to get away from and will take a lot of shots to bring down. It is not huntable from the main menu and is more akin to a roaming hazard.

Meganeura. Another ambient animal, this time completely harmless, like what you're used to. It's smaller than the Pterosaurs and flies closer to the ground. They scatter at the sound of predator calls and gunshots and can be killed in a single shot. Since they're so frail I'd probably have them break into pieces when they die.

Monolophosaurus. Like I said before, there are a lot of meat-eaters you could add to these games. I just went with another favorite, this time something more obscure. I think if I gave it a distinctive call and color to go with its nasal crest it'd be a pretty unique carnivore. The Mono is larger than the Allosaurus, but not by a whole lot. It behaves similarly to the other small carnivores and can run, swim, and jump. It has an animation where it stops, lifts its head and looks around. For its kill animation it grabs you in its mouth and shakes you around viciously.

Corythosaurus. Another duck-billed herbivore to join Parasaurolophus. It's (slightly) shorter and stockier, runs slower, and has a better sense of sight. It has similar animations and is also harmless.

Dryosaurus. This is another harmless herbivore, but not one that's easy to hunt. It's small, has excellent senses all across the board, and is a very, very fast runner. It can also swim, which none of the other herbivores can do. It has an animation for foraging and looking around.

Giganotosaurus. In elementary school I had a friend who told me the Seismosaurus myth was true and that he'd unlocked it himself. He also said there was a second hidden dinosaur which he'd unlocked, and it was Giganotosaurus. Of course this was totally made up, but ever since I've always wondered what Giga would look like in a Carnivores game (and no, Cityscape does not count). My version would of course be very large, shorter than the T-Rex but also longer and heavier. He would have poor eyesight but excellent hearing and smelling. Giga could swim like all the others but would be too large to jump or run very fast. I wouldn't give him a specific weakpoint like the Rex, but he'd definitely have the most health of any huntable dino. He would have a "stop and sniff for prey" animation and also a pause-and-roar before charging. For his kill animation he'd grab the hunter in his jaws a thrash them about.

There are other dinos I thought about but these are just the ones I decided to draw. And of course they ARE just concepts. This whole thing sounds like it's gonna be a complicated business and depending on what is or isn't possible I might not make a single one. But we'll see. If it does work though I'll be sure to post screens on here.

I've actually seen this picture before. I like it! Carnotaurus has been officially added in the mobile games, but honestly I like your version more. Meganeura is an interesting choice - some people have modded it into the game already, although they usually place it on Pterosaur AI.
Very good drawing for its age, & I like the blocky, polygonal artstyle.
