This one wishes to speak to you of the glory of Bioware!




But really- I can't say enough good things about the Mass Effect series. Nearly everything about these games impresses me. The story, the characters, the voice acting, the graphics, the music, the world/lore, the humor... it's all very expertly done. So, even though I'm not good at drawing humanoids, fan art was inevitable.

So last night I decided to draw some of my favorite team mates from Mass Effect 2. The overall storyline in ME2 wasn't quite as strong as the first game, but the cast of characters was much more interesting and the interactions you had with them were great. The final sequence really exemplified that- it wasn't one of those hokey things where you can predict ahead of time that a certain character is going to die because you're supposed to dislike them, or because they're supposed to be the heroic martyr. Literally anyone could die, either as a result of my actions or by random chance, and I'd gotten to like each of my allies so much that I was genuinely on pins and needles crossing my fingers and hoping that they were going to make it. I can't remember the last time a movie pulled that off for me, let alone a video game. Bioware knows what the hell its doing.

Anyway. From left to right is Garrus, Thane, Mordin, Grunt, Tali, and a random Varren (because fishdogs are awesome). I was originally going to include Legion as well, but he's got a complicated face and I couldn't find a good enough reference. But here's him doing the robot. That makes up for it, right? [link]
