* Tentacles are tipped with retractable bone spikes for grabbing and stabbing.

History:

[Guardian of the Universe]

Touching down in the heart of Tokyo, the Legnals arrived surrounded by onlookers and government officials. Taking a moment to absorb the local language, they requested a meeting with the area's leader and were taken to Kantei under heavy escort. Once there they pleaded with the prime minister, asking that he give their species immediate permission to move to the Earth as permanent residents.

Knowing that he alone could not make such a decision, and that the Earth was already overcrowded as it was, the prime minister declined. The Legnals, increasingly desperate, refused to take no for an answer. Their discussion became heated, and after much arguing lead to the threat of physical violence. The Legnals, held at gun point, stormed out of Kantei with a furious warning: if mankind would not comply with their wishes, they would take the planet by force.

The next day a fleet of Legnal ships descended over Kobe, their intentions clear. The JSDF, seeing their craft turn hostile, took immediate action and engaged them in an aerial battle over the harbor. Though leading the dogfight at first, they became outmatched when the Legnals unleashed a giant, pod-like craft that blasted their jets with lasers. The aliens pressed their lead and charged into Kobe, shooting everything in sight as the JSDF called for reinforcements.

Before more jets could arrive Gamera appeared, racing into the city and driving the Legnals off with a furious wail. He battled the aliens outside the city when they regrouped, blasting their tiny fighters to pieces and ramming into the big ship with his shell. Defeated, the invasion force fled back into space to rethink their strategy; clearly, the big guns were in order.

Two tense, agonizing days passed before the Legnals showed themselves again. They appeared next on the coast, landing an enormous craft by the sea and releasing a swarm of smaller attack ships. Terrorizing everything in sight, including a nearby meeting of Japanese Scouts, the Legnals trolled for Gamera.

He did not keep them waiting long. Lumbering onto shore and dropping the fighter ships like flies, Gamera headed straight for the giant craft- only to find that it had already opened up. Slithering out from it's cargo bay, the Legnal-made monster Viras attacked.

Lashing out with a multitude of tentacles, he ambushed Gamera and began a tumultuous struggle. The guardian fought as hard as ever, but with his grappling arms and psychic premonitions Viras was countering every blow. Locked in a brutal stalemate, they battled all across the shore as the Legnals watched intently; if Gamera could be defeated, the Earth would be theirs for the taking.

Viras continued his assault without sign of slowing down, tripping and strangling his opponent at every opportunity; even in his shell, Gamera was not safe from the monster’s snaking, stabbing arms. Taking control of the melee, however, proved to be the last thing the alien should have done. Gamera, bleeding and ensnared, was now close enough that his enemy’s psychic predictions no longer mattered. Able to strike faster than the alien could disengage it’s arms, Gamera bit down on the closest tentacle and took to the sky.

Rocketing straight into the thermosphere, Gamera turned about and shot back to Earth with Viras in tow. As he flew down on a mad collision course for the ground, he released his foe at the very last minute and pulled up. Viras, still flying at breakneck speed, smashed spear-first into the Legnal ship and disappeared in a gigantic, fiery explosion. When the dust cleared, neither remained.

Furious and defeated, the Legnals turned their ships around and left for Ardest. Gamera, watching them leave, roared triumphantly as droves of Scouts applauded behind him. His call rang out into the heavens, a warning to all alien threats: Gamera protects the Earth!

[Destroyer of Mankind]

Touching down in the heart of Tokyo, the Legnals arrived surrounded by onlookers and government officials. Taking a moment to absorb the local language, they requested a meeting with the area's leader and were taken to Kantei under heavy escort. Once there they pleaded with the prime minister, asking that he give their species immediate permission to move to the Earth as permanent residents.

They would not arrive in time.

Kobe fell to the Legnal attack, burned to ashes by bombs and lasers. Second and third waves of JSDF forces came and went, whittling away the armada but falling one by one to the pod. Having succeeded in it’s task, the ship began to rise, broadcasting a message directly to the prime minister. If he did not surrender the next time the Legnals appeared, they warned, then more cities would be destroyed.

There was little choice, it seemed. After the bloody monster rampages that had torn apart their country, the Japanese were in no position to pursue a long-term war with an alien race, especially one with such advanced weapons. When the Legnal ship lowered in Sapporo the next day there were government officials waiting for them, ready to do the only thing they could: surrender.

Then, just as the two races converged, everything went astray; a monstrous roar rang out across the city. Before either group could react a giant fireball was streaming toward them, and with a giant explosion, both were gone. The Legnal ship blew apart into a million pieces, raining debris on the city and beating down every building in range. As the flames rose, Gamera marched closer.

The Legnal forces went berserk, ships flying out of the sky from all directions. Gamera bellowed defiantly at their attack, not caring who their target was. With a volley of fireballs he beat their front line into nothing but cinders. Laserbeams and missiles came from every angle to strike him but did nothing. Downing pod after pod, Gamera single-handedly annihilated their army. Only a single ship remained, speeding off into the heavens to report what had taken place.

Two days later, the Legnals returned not in force, but fewer numbers than before. They followed their enemy’s path of destruction and found him in Asahikawa, tearing apart an airport. Knowing that they could not inhabit the Earth until this threat was cleared, the Legnals descended with a single, enormous ship and unleashed their weapon: Viras.

The alien monster attacked with violent fervor, dodging The Destroyer’s many attacks and countering with blows of his own. In a blur of spikes and tentacles Viras he drew the beast’s rage; the more he lashed out the angrier Gamera became, and the angrier he became, the sloppier he attacked. Viras, moving with speed and precision, quickly took control of the fight.

Though taking a beating, Gamera was not giving in; there could only be one outcome from incurring his wrath. Deliberately taking a spearing to the torso, he grabbed the squirming alien as he tried to dislodge himself. Working his claws in-between the prongs, Gamera pried open Viras’ spear, unleashed his powerful breath, and forced the prongs back together in an iron grip. It’s head literally filled with fire, Viras screamed and flailed in Gamera’s grasp before being smashed into the ground.

Gamera released a furious cry as the Legnals took off; he would not let them escape either. Sending a giant fireball their way, he watched with satisfaction as their fleeing craft burst into flames and plummeted back to Earth. Turning his back on the crash, Gamera marched back to his human victims, his message to the invaders clear: The Destroyer does not leave survivors.
