Description

Name: Ginkura
Gender: Male
Type: Insect
Alignment: Protective
Height: 44 feet
Weight: 170 tons
Biography: Marcus Holloway’s counterpart in the guardian alliance, Ginkura is a giant, flying insect. He was found in the Gyrik Desert, where he had apparently made a habit of preying on the native Carnak Beetles. He was discovered hiding in an oasis shortly after a conflict with the people of Kulma, who had attacked after seeing him near one of their beetle ranches. Marcus was able to calm down the startled predator and mind-link with him, eventually gaining his trust and leading him back to Ragadin- much to the relief of the Kulmarians.
As a guardian, Ginkura has proven to be extremely loyal. The enormous arthropod has formed a friendship not only with Marcus, but with the entire team, including the other daikaijuu. He often plays a support role, hanging back and lending aid to his allies via powerful ranged attacks. He is more than capable of taking on foes by himself, however, and often does so while protecting Ragadin.
Specializing in “heavy artillery“, Ginkura is well adapted for firefights and ranged combat. He is heavily armored, especially in the front, allowing him to face barrages head on while staying on the offensive. His exoskeleton is also highly flame-retardant, protecting him from any fires or explosions he may face in the process. Hardy and adaptable, he can hold his own in almost any conflict.
Serving as Ginkura’s main weapons are two stout, claw-like limbs. While they can be used as standard, close-range weapons, these limbs actually have more in common with machine guns than claws. Opening up mantis-style, they house a row of razor-sharp spines which can be rapidly launched like bullets from a firearm. Regenerating new spines in an instant, Ginkura can pummel foes with wild barrages of these projectile spines, striking quickly and shredding all but the most armored of foes.
Supplementing this is Ginkura’s tail, which can arc forward (either above or below the body) to fire a deadly blast of plasma energy. Though Ginkura cannot fire this weapon as quickly as his spine launchers, it can inflict far more damage. Violently exploding on impact, it is a larger and more powerful projectile. Used in combination with the spines, it makes for a truly potent volley.
Ginkura is somewhat less effective at close range, though. While able to defend himself with his claws and cranial horn, he is not as physically powerful as some other monsters. Other, heavier monsters may outmuscle him, putting him at a serious disadvantage if a melee breaks out. This is rarely an issue, however, as he can usually rely on Theraga to handle any brawling that needs to be done.

Trivia: Despite being built like a tank, Ginkura is a surprisingly maneuverable flyer. He can hover in any direction, flying backwards, sideways, and diagonally with ease.
