Marc Cerasini's RAIJIN

I was recently contacted by Toho Kingdom about an interview they were doing with the author of the Random House Godzilla novels, Marc Cerasini. If you need a refresher, he's the one who wrote Godzilla Returns, Godzilla 2000 (one of my favorite novels as a kid, both my sister and I did book reports on it!), Godzilla at World's End, Godzilla vs. the Robot Monsters, and finally Godzilla and the Lost Continent, which was never published. The interview is about that lost project, and gives some more insight into what happened to it and what it was really about.

The big kicker, though, is that Cerasini's revealed that Godzilla and the Lost Continent had an original monster in it that'd been kept a secret since the late 1990s... and TK wanted me to illustrate it for him!

Naturally this was a HUGE honor, and having the opportunity to make a contribution, no matter how small, to the Godzilla pantheon was a dream come true. Technically this is still an unofficial design, since Lost Continent got canceled before Toho could approve of Cerasini's creation, and if it hadn't I'm sure he would've got a professional artist to design it- but it DID get Cerasini's enthusiastic approval, so that's good enough for me!
