Redsketch 1

See, I am trying not to upload a billion things.

These are all sketches done in 2011, trying to come up with a new design for "Red". I'd been wanting to adapt my Code Red Godzilla into an original monster for a while, and this was when that idea finally started to get traction.

The idea was Syn was going to get ahold of a trio of kaiju eggs (specifically Big Bertha's, in this draft) and tinker with their DNA to try and make them into bioweapons. Of the three, Red is apparently the only one to survive the process. One of the "failed" embryos turns out to still be alive and reforms itself as Ghouldon, making the two monsters brothers. Both are extremely powerful but fundamentally flawed: Ghouldon is unstable physically, with a body structure that's always melting down and regenerating itself, and Red is unstable power-wise, generating way too much energy for his body to handle.

Neither monster has an especially glamorous existence, but of the two Red is the more rebellious and resists all of Syn's attempts to use him. He turns on them the first chance he gets and roams Tarrun as a neutral figure, having no allegiances to either side of the Gulbastis vs Caitlyn conflict. He certainly hates Ghouldon and the other Syn monsters more than Theraga, though.
